I'm a student myself, and as one I feel that it is so imperative that we learn how to think critically about the music we take in. I am well aware that the music I take in directly affects my mood, persona, perception of myself, and in this specific case, my perception of what the woman represents. I often play Beyonce when I'm going to a party. When I’m ready to shake sum’n and fling my hair around, you know, feelin’ myself. But I deliberately play Coldplay when I want to get in tune with my emotions and calm my spirit, and I’m looking to induce a spirit of purity within myself. I’m extremely elated to learn of these courses and immensely interested in more courses that investigate modern media and its effects. Why? Well, because personally I feel that often times we take music in but never stop to think about its adverse effects. It's not going to stop being a part of our lives, so why not engage it?
